iPhone 6S and 6S Plus

Major upgrades expected for rumored Apple iPhone 6S

September holds major promise for all iPhone lovers as this is the month that Apple typically releases its completely new iPhone series (like iPhone 5 and iPhone 6) or the incremental upgrades such as iPhone 4S, iPhone 5S. Continuing the trend, Apple is expected to come out with upgraded versions of its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus smartphones during the second half of 2015.

Though there is no official announcement from Apple there are hot rumors regarding Apple’s next releases. Assuming Apple follows its historical naming convention the new devices will be the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

A research note from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests these could perhaps be the biggest smartphone upgrades from Apple in the history of the iPhone. This means an exciting few months lie ahead for all curious iPhone fans until they actually witness the next innovation from their preferred smartphone maker. Let’s check out the substantial upgrades that analyst Kuo expects Apple to come up with in the upcoming iPhone versions for 2015.

Force Touch Feature Addition

The Force Touch technology that proved to be a major hit for Apple Watch, the 12-inch MacBook, and the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display could well be the highlight of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. This feature imparts sensitivity to the touchscreen capable of determining how much force is being used. The result is new touch controls due to the different responses obtained based on how hard someone presses the surface. This could even trigger further improvement in fingerprint recognition via Touch ID.

Say No to Bending

When the iPhone 6S phone was released in 2014, there were lots of complaints regarding the bending of iPhone cases because the very thin iPhone was not designed for back pocket storage. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may have taken care to avoid these bending scenarios in upcoming phones by using a different case material along with some internal design changes. There is also news of carbon fiber and similar materials being experimented with for improving the iPhone material strength and keeping it thin.

Sapphire Display Limited to iPhone 6S Plus

The much talked-about Sapphire display cover glass may appear on the iPhone 6S Plus later this year. The Sapphire display is considered really tough and harder to scratch when compared to the currently used Gorilla Glass display for iPhones.

Improved Camera

The main iPhone camera may get upgraded to 12MP from its standard 8MP that’s been featured on the last few iPhone versions. The acquisition of the Israeli camera technology company LinX has increased expectations of a good high-end iPhone camera this time round.

Other Additions

Apart from the regular iPhone color models like silver, gold, and space grey, iPhone 6S may now be available in rose gold as well. The next processor from Apple (tentatively known as A9) may be seen with 2GB RAM in the upcoming iPhone smartphones.

That’s all the rumor and speculation for now. I’m sure there will be plenty more over the coming months. Are any of these features exciting or compelling for you? Are you looking forward to the next iPhone models? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
