Earlier this week Microsoft announced that it is raising the limits on OneDrive storage capacity–from 7GB to 15GB for the free OneDrive accounts, and up to a whopping 1TB for all Office 365 users. Today, Microsoft revealed that there are also changes coming in the next few days for the OneDrive apps on both Android and iOS.
On the Android side, the OneDrive app is being changed so that it feels more like an integral part of the Android device. The OneDrive app will also automatically sync videos–in addition to photos–from the Android device to OneDrive, so any pictures or videos you capture on your Android smartphone or tablet will be protected in case your device is lost or stolen, and you will have easy access to your content from other devices, including your Xbox console.
For iOS, Microsoft is making the OneDrive app more reliable and self-sufficient. It will backup the Camera Roll automatically in the background with fewer user notifications. The better news for iOS, though, is that Office documents will now open in the appropriate Office Mobile or Office for iPad app by default.
Look for the updated apps to be available for download from the respective app stores in the next few days.
