We all want our businesses to be as productive as possible, producing as many sales or being as successful as it can be. And while this is possible without the use of lots of technology, tech can also make your business a lot more productive, with a lot less effort than doing this manually. There are a number of programs and business solutions out there, it is simply a matter of knowing where to look.
Here are four ways you can use technology to make your business more productive:
1. Use accounting software to manage your numbers
Let’s face it, sorting out numbers for a business can be a nightmare and when it comes to the tax return season, if you don’t have a proper system in place, it can take a long time to get organized; and this can be very stressful! Use accounting software to do everything from calculating how much tax you owe to learning how to track inventory in QuickBooks or keeping an eye on your cash flow and making sure your books balance. It’s a useful system to store and track your receipts and you can have multiple members on the same login, so can see what everyone is up to. It saves time with a messy filing system and ensures things can’t get lost or ruined.
2. Use a project manager or calendar system
There are many project management and calendar systems out there, it’s up to you to find the ones that are best for you and your business. With the right project management system, you can look after multiple projects, tasks and sub-tasks, assigning different jobs to people and setting aspects such as due-dates or extra comments. It’s a great way to ensure everyone knows what they should be doing when and negates the need for long (and often pointless) meetings.
3. Utilize communication programs
Communication programs such as Slack, Skype and Facebook for Workplace are great to increase the productivity of your business. These ensure staff members can speak and communicate with each other easily without getting distracted by other elements of social media. They also avoid staff members wasting time by calling each other or wandering round to the other side of the office to ask simple questions. This way they can get the answer to what they want quickly and efficiently.
4. Consider apps that can help your business
There are many apps out there which are designed to help improve productivity at work. Try book apps such as Joosr or Blinkist which allow people to read digestible chunks of books instead of the whole thing, this can help staff members learn quickly and effectively without having to spend hours reading. You could also try time management apps which sort schedules and tracks time on websites and in applications so you know if your employees are procrastinating or spending a long time on sites they shouldn’t be.
These are just a few of the ways that technology can help to make your business more productive. Try out a few of them and see which really make a difference for you.
