Gmail ‘Undo Send’ option now officially available

Drafting an email in a hurry and having it accidentally land in the wrong inbox is a real fun situation. For example, an email meant for your husband and accidentally sent to your boss is really troublesome. To resolve such an issue Google has finally announced the launch of an “Undo Send” button as a formal setting for Gmail users. It will let you recall the emails sent by mistake.

Google will now steer you clear of the trouble that can be caused by the misdirection of an email and that’s what we call a life-saving button.

Google introduced the “Undo Send” button back in March 2009 and at that time it was at a nascent stage of development. It quietly stayed in Google Labs where Google tests out new features that users need to switch on manually.

After a lot of experimentation through the years, Google Labs has now announced this latest feature to make Gmail more savvy to use. Undoubtedly, it will give a great buffer to daily email handlers and email marketers.

How Will It Work?

As the name suggests, the “Undo Send” button comes with the option to set a time for you to change your mind after you dispatch an email. Now, even if you click on the “Send” option you will still have the choice to recall the message within five to 30 seconds.

You need to enable a tool under the settings cog in Gmail to activate this feature in your Gmail account. If you have already switched on the option in the Labs then it will remain in the default mode. If you haven’t yet, tick the little box “Enable Undo Send”.

When Will It Launch?

Google introduced this “Undo Send” feature last month in their Gmail app for mobile devices. It will be officially available from July with no further experiments. The “Undo Send” link will appear at the top of your inbox when you send a message. Simply click on it and hold back the message before it lands up in the wrong inbox.
