Late last year, Funcom rolled out a new update for the popular Conan Exiles game. Conan Exiles 1.75 patch or update 2.7 as it is called was introduced on December 9, 2021, to PS4 players. However, similar updates were also rolled out for PC and Xbox players just a few days earlier. The update comes after a period of rising popularity amid the global growth of gaming, with a 1.798 percent spike in player size. The new update brings a few highly anticipated changes for the series including a possible new addition to the gaming line-up.

New Point of Interest Protection System Added

One of the most notable additions with the latest update is the addition of a new Point of Interest protection system. This stops obstructing structures from blocking access to obelisks. They also introduced their very first event, Grave Matters. Running until January 10th the event rewarded players who can stop sorcerers and the unnaturally dead. More recently, update 2.8 became available on the live build and addressed the reported bugs by Microsoft and Epic Games Store users. According to multiple sources, they experienced several crashes when downloading.

Character Transfer Back On-Line for Gamers

The developers of Conan also upgraded the exiles character transfer between servers. The major update now allows players to between servers like the Land of Exiles and Ostrom of Sipah. There are, however, certain rules. For instance, players cannot transfer a character to a server where they already have a character. Additionally, you can transfer from Official servers to Unofficial servers but not the other way around. Transferring your character also means you lose placeables. There have been multiple updates for Conan’s loyal players like Conan Exiles horse Guide.

New Version Of ‘Conan’ In the Works

In September 2021 Funcom the parent company behind the Conan Exiles legacy announced that it has acquired the rights to Conan the Barbarian. The move comes as a result of its acquisition of the Cabinet Group which has the intellectual properties of both Conan the Barbadian and Soloman Kane. The plan is to incorporate all of Cabinet Group’s intellectual properties into Funcom’s Heroic Signatures studio portfolio. The announcement also included an interesting tidbit- is “currently overseeing the development of an unannounced [Conan] game which will combine many of the characters in the Robert E. Howard universe.”

CEO of Cabinet Group, Frederick Malmberg will continue with his position and is looking forward to exploring new ways they can innovate the game. According to Malmberg, “The entertainment industry is rapidly becoming more ‘techified’,” said Malmberg. “We’ve seen brilliant examples of how games have incorporated IPs in innovative ways to reach audience numbers that vastly surpass previous levels. What Fortnite has done with The Avengers, for instance, or the impact a live in-game concert can have on awareness. We are looking forward to sitting down with other entertainment companies who share our vision and wish to take part in the exciting journey we have ahead.”

While the Conan Exiles gameplay was adapted from books, the continued introduction of hi-tech gaming tools will no doubt complement the upcoming changes for the game.
