iPhone TheUnlockingCompany review

Review: iPhone Unlock Service from TheUnlockingCompany.com

I am going to share my review of a TheUnlockingCompany–a remote smartphone unlocking service. But first, let me give a little breakdown of what’s going on and why I required an unlocking service.

I am currently outside of the United States and ordered an iPhone 16 Pro Max from T-Mobile, which does not ship out of country. However, per their suggestion, I placed an order to have it shipped to a friend, who then shipped it to me.  For some reason, despite it being his idea, that’s not what the agent did. He placed the order and had it shipped to my old address, which is a UPS Store in Nevada that I no longer even have a box at. When I figured that out, T-Mobile placed a new order, but it was already too late to cancel the first one because it had already shipped. Instead, they marked it as Lost/Not Received and refunded me for the first phone.

I have a service set up with the UPS Store in Nevada to forward my mail to my new address in Peru. I did not think the service included packages. But, instead of denying the package from T-Mobile or returning it, they forwarded it to me. I was unaware until I received a notification from Customs in Peru letting me know I had to pay $296 in duty/tax for them to receive my package.

I assumed this was the second phone–the one that my friend received and shipped to me. I got home from the post office here with my new phone and activated it on my T-Mobile line. I tested to make sure both incoming and outgoing calls, texts, and data all worked. I then reached out to T-Mobile to have them do a carrier unlock so I could activate the dual SIM and add a second line with the cellular carrier I use here. But T-Mobile said they could not unlock the device because it has been reported as lost or not received it has been blacklisted and blocked on the network.

T-Mobile suggested I return it, but I informed them that it would not be happening. I had just paid $80 for UPS to forward the package to me, $300 in duty/tax to Peru Customers, and $40 in Uber fees to get to the post office and back. I told them I would be glad to reverse the refund they had processed for it and pay for it to have it removed from their blacklist. But they said they couldn’t do that and again recommended that I just order a new phone.

Thanks, but no thanks. I informed them that I have no interest in paying another $300 import fee, so that is not going to happen. T-Mobile said they understood my hesitation in returning it since I was in another country. They told me I do not need to return it, but they still can’t unlock it.

That brings me to TheUnlockingCompany.com.

I searched online for unlocking services. There are a couple that draw you in with a low $49.95 price–or even less–and claim they can “instantly” unlock the device. But, when you dig a little deeper, that fee only includes a carrier check, and unlocking a T-Mobile device would cost an additional $280-$450.

Then I came across TheUnlockingCompany.com, which actually has support available by phone and WhatsApp, where you can actually reach a live person. I contacted them via WhatsApp and explained my unique situation. They took the IMEI number from my iPhone and ran it, and they said they could unlock it for $260. They were upfront that it would take 72 hours, but they also assured me they have a 100% guarantee that the service would work.

I have to say it was great and quick. I submitted the order late Friday night, and by Monday morning, I was in business. Now, I have active lines on the iPhone with TMobile as well as Claro Peru. No issues.

I asked about a Blacklist Removal service. They told me that is something they are working on, so hopefully, that’s available soon so I can be 100% clear with this phone.

Bottom line, I would definitely choose TheUnlockingCompany.com if I need this sort of service in the future. I will use them again because they provide live human support, a locked-in price up front, and a guarantee of their service. It was quick and easy.
