Review: MobileTrans 1-click phone-to-phone transfer tool

MobileTrans is an application from Wondershare designed to backup your mobile content or move it from one phone to another.

My Experience:

The layout of the application is clean and simple, so you don’t have to fumble around trying to navigate. Hover over an icon for details and choose what you want to do: transfer data from one device to another, backup data, restore data, or erase data.

I chose to backup my phone’s data. It took around 5 minutes to load all my options before I could even start the backup. Once ready, I was able to check which items I wanted to backup: photos, music, videos, text messages, contacts, and calendar. It took another 10-15 minutes to back all my data up, then I was done.

I also chose to click through the program’s FAQ and reviews link which took me to this website where I didn’t find FAQs or reviews: http://www.1dvdsoft.com/phone-transfer.html

My Takeaway:

This is a handy program if you have 2 phones you need to sync that are different platforms. It’s an easy way to load your contacts, text messages, and other content from one device to another. If you lose your content you can restore from a backup as long as you’ve used the program to back it up previously. The layout is clean and simple, and it does the basic things it claims to do, all with ease.

My one gripe: the program never told me WHERE the content went on my computer, in case I wanted to move photos or videos into a different folder on my hard drive. You also aren’t able to sync content from your computer to your phone like you can with iTunes.

Overall, it could be useful if you’re in a pinch and need a way to transfer content from one device to another in the easiest way possible (plug both devices in and click a few buttons). Other than that, it’s just an extra program to back up your data with, which can be done via clous or iTunes. I’m not sure I would go out of my way to pay $40 unless I truly had a need for it that couldn’t be fullfilled with free programs I already have.
